These are REAL questions people have asked me regarding natural hair along with my REAL responses. Some information, such as names and identifiers have been edited to conceal the identity of my subby. Please offer your advice and contribute to the conversation in the comments.
Q: I just wanted to ask you about your hair you went natural right? I’m deciding to do the same would you mind passing me any tips or suggestions that you tried? I’m getting kinky twist then that would be 4 months of me not getting a relaxer but I don’t want to just chop it off. I wanna get it cut off gradually. Any tips you could throw my way would be awesome.
A:I transitioned over time as well. I suggest protective styles like braids, twists, and sew ins. Just make sure these styles are not too tight. Also, take care of your hair underneath by washing and deep conditioning before and after getting extensions.
You can get a little bit trimmed each time you take your hair put of a protective style. Initially, I got my hair flat ironed every two weeks but I stopped as my natural hair grew out to prevent heat damage.
Products that I like and or love:
Cantu Shea butter, African black soap as a cleanser, Mane and Tail detangler, Organic root stimulater edge control, Natural oils such as jojoba, tea tree, rosemary, n olive
*I no longer use edge control but it worked well on my transitioning texture*
