Nearly 4 years ago, I stood in the freezing cold to witness history. I believe I cried as President Barack Obama placed his hand on the bible to take oath in front over a million constituents. It was beautiful to see all the cultures and various ethnicities united to celebrate this momentous occasion.
As a college student on the brink of graduation, I was eager and inspired. Just 2 years prior, I had sat in my Africa American history course and replied “No” when asked if I believed there would be a black President in my generation.
Then, the idea seemed so farfetched. Although I could imagine it, my mind could not conceive the notion that America was ready to allow it to happen. It’s a shame that I even thought of the idea this way but knowing what I know about American history, I didn’t think it would happen as quickly as it did.
That trip to DC is one on the most memorable trips I’ve ever had. The events, including all the partying and socializing, were EPIC. I’m back for round 2. I will be here for 5 days and my itinerary is full. We will celebrate, toast to life, and dance like we have NO WORRIES.
So I invite you to experience this wonderful occasion with me. Come back for pics and updates.
